D\u016fvodem je kombinace dostupnosti technologie, \u0161irok\u00e9 nab\u00eddky materi\u00e1l\u016f a v\u00fdrazn\u011b krat\u0161\u00edch v\u00fdrobn\u00edch \u010das\u016f oproti tradi\u010dn\u00edm metod\u00e1m. Hlavn\u00ed p\u0159\u00ednos aditivn\u00ed v\u00fdroby spo\u010d\u00edv\u00e1 v jej\u00ed flexibilit\u011b. V\u00fdroba nen\u00ed sv\u00e1z\u00e1na v\u00fdrobn\u00edmi formami ani slo\u017eitou p\u0159\u00edpravou technologie. Zm\u011bna n\u00e1vrhu tak neznamen\u00e1 z\u00e1sadn\u00ed z\u00e1sah do procesu, ale \u010dasto jen \u00fapravu digit\u00e1ln\u00edho modelu.  Rychl\u00e1 reakce na konkr\u00e9tn\u00ed pot\u0159ebu V technick\u00fdch oborech \u010dasto vznikaj\u00ed situace, kdy je pot\u0159eba rychle vyrobit specifick\u00fd d\u00edl \u2013 nap\u0159\u00edklad p\u0159i poru\u0161e za\u0159\u00edzen\u00ed, \u00faprav\u011b st\u00e1vaj\u00edc\u00ed konstrukce nebo v\u00fdvoji nov\u00e9ho \u0159e\u0161en\u00ed. V t\u011bchto p\u0159\u00edpadech se osv\u011bd\u010duje 3D tisk na zak\u00e1zku, kter\u00fd umo\u017e\u0148uje vyrobit po\u017eadovan\u00fd komponent bez dlouh\u00fdch dodac\u00edch lh\u016ft a bez nutnosti vyr\u00e1b\u011bt v\u011bt\u0161\u00ed mno\u017estv\u00ed kus\u016f. Typick\u00fdm p\u0159\u00edkladem jsou r\u016fzn\u00e9 dr\u017e\u00e1ky, kryty, adapt\u00e9ry nebo mont\u00e1\u017en\u00ed p\u0159\u00edpravky. Jde o d\u00edly, kter\u00e9 nejsou standardizovan\u00e9, \u010dasto se li\u0161\u00ed kus od kusu a jejich v\u00fdroba klasick\u00fdmi metodami by byla neefektivn\u00ed nebo zbyte\u010dn\u011b n\u00e1kladn\u00e1. V\u00fdznam spr\u00e1vn\u00e9ho n\u00e1vrhu Kvalita v\u00fdsledn\u00e9ho d\u00edlu je z velk\u00e9 \u010d\u00e1sti d\u00e1na samotn\u00fdm n\u00e1vrhem. Konstrukce ur\u010den\u00e1 pro aditivn\u00ed v\u00fdrobu se li\u0161\u00ed od n\u00e1vrhu pro obr\u00e1b\u011bn\u00ed nebo vst\u0159ikov\u00e1n\u00ed plast\u016f. Zohled\u0148uje se orientace tisku, tlou\u0161\u0165ka st\u011bn, typ v\u00fdpln\u011b nebo m\u00edsta s vy\u0161\u0161\u00edm nam\u00e1h\u00e1n\u00edm. Pr\u00e1v\u011b zde hraje d\u016fle\u017eitou roli 3D modelov\u00e1n\u00ed, kter\u00e9 umo\u017e\u0148uje optimalizovat tvar d\u00edlu p\u0159\u00edmo pro zvolenou technologii v\u00fdroby.
